An **Autofield** is a column in your submissions table that AI fills in for every response. Use it to score leads, tag feedback by topic, flag urgent requests or detect sentiment, all without reading every row yourself.

## Output types

| Type | Example |
| --- | --- |
| **Number** | _Lead score_ from 1 to 10. |
| **Yes / no** | _Mentions a bug?_ |
| **Classification** | _Topic_: Pricing, Onboarding, Bugs or Other. AI assigns exactly one tag to each row. |

## Create an Autofield

1. **Open Submissions**

    Open your form's **Submissions** and choose **New Autofield**.

2. **Name the column**

    The **Column name** is AI's main instruction, so make it descriptive, like
    *Lead score (1–10, how ready to buy)*.

3. **Pick the fields to read**

    Choose up to 50 questions for AI to look at.

4. **Guide it**

    Add **Extra instructions**, or give at least two examples of answers and the
    outcome you expect. Finerlise can draft instructions from your examples.

5. **Preview and save**

    Check the **Autofield preview** on a real response, then click **Create
    Autofield**. Turn on **Generate for existing submissions** to fill in past
    rows too.

New submissions are filled in automatically. Use **Generate again** on a row to refresh it.

:::note Answers are always treated as untrusted data, so a respondent can't change your instructions by writing something sneaky in a text field. :::
