Under **Settings → Access → Respondent identity**, choose how respondents identify themselves:

| Option | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| **Anonymous** | Respondents don't have to identify themselves. |
| **Use email field to collect email** | Each response is linked to one [Email question](/blocks/email) in your form, which you pick. |
| **Native Sign In** (shown as **Sign in to submit** in the editor) | Respondents sign in with Google or a Finerlise account before opening the form. |

## When to use sign-in

- Allow **One response per account** with [duplicate prevention](/settings/prevent-duplicate-submissions).
- Send [response receipts](/settings/response-receipts) to a verified address.
- Know exactly who submitted, for example for internal or members-only forms.

:::note On a [custom domain](/share/custom-domains), respondents are sent to Finerlise to sign in, then back to your form. :::
