:::note Custom domains are available on **Pro** (1 domain), **Business** (5 domains) and **Enterprise** (unlimited). :::

With a custom domain, your forms live at addresses like `forms.yourcompany.com/apply` instead of `finerlise.com/f/apply`. Respondents trust your own brand and never see Finerlise in the address bar.

## Connect a domain

1. **Add the domain**

Go to **Workspace settings → Domains** and click **Add domain**. Enter a subdomain you own, such as `forms.yourcompany.com`.

2. **Add the DNS records**

Finerlise shows the records to add at your DNS provider (for example Cloudflare, GoDaddy or Namecheap):

    | Domain type | Record |
    | --- | --- |
    | Subdomain (`forms.yourcompany.com`) | A **CNAME** record pointing to the value shown, usually `cname.vercel-dns.com` |
    | Root domain (`yourcompany.com`) | An **A** record with the value shown |
    | Sometimes | A **TXT** record to prove you own the domain |

3. **Wait for verification**

DNS changes can take up to a few hours. Finerlise checks automatically, and the status changes to **Active** when *"Your forms are live on this domain."*

## Domain status

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Pending** | Waiting for your DNS records. |
| **Active** | Forms are live on this domain. |
| **Misconfigured** | The domain no longer points at Finerlise, so forms on it are offline. Check the records. |
| **Not verified** | Finerlise couldn't verify the domain. Check the records, then check again. Domains not verified within 7 days stop being checked. |

## Use the domain

- Your **primary** domain is used for every form's links, share page and embed code.
- To use a different domain for a single form, choose it under the form's **Settings → General → Domain**.
- Visiting the bare domain (`forms.yourcompany.com`) shows your **domain root** page, which you can customize under **Workspace settings → General**.

:::note[Signing in] Forms that require respondents to [sign in](/settings/respondent-identity-and-sign-in) send them to Finerlise to sign in, then back to the form. :::

:::warning[Downgrading] If your plan no longer includes custom domains, forms are only served on Finerlise. Your domains stay connected, so upgrading again brings them back online. :::
