Field options
Settings shared by questions, including required answers, defaults, validation, hiding and more.
Select any question to see its settings in the right-hand panel. These options are available on most question types.
Common settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Required | Respondents must answer before continuing. |
| Default answer | Pre-fills an answer that respondents can change. |
| Response validation | Checks text answers: Contains, Starts with, Ends with, Min characters, Max characters. |
| Custom error message | Replaces the default message when validation fails, for example “Please use your work email.” |
| Color scale | Colors answers in the submissions table from low to high (numbers, ratings, scales). |
Choice settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Randomize options | Shuffles options for each respondent. |
| Option descriptions | Adds helper text under each option. |
| Bulk insert options | Pastes many options at once, one per line (⌘ ⇧ O). |
| Option exclusivity | Makes an option, like None of the above, clear all other selections. |
| Minimum selection / Maximum selection | Limits how many options respondents can pick. |
| Other | Adds a free-text Other option. |
Block actions
Open a block’s menu (the dotted handle on its left) to:
- Duplicate, Copy or Delete it.
- Hide it from respondents without deleting it. Hidden blocks stay in the editor and can be shown again later.
- Turn into another block type, for example Multiple choice → Dropdown. Your options are kept.
- Open conditional logic for this block.
- Move into new column to place it side by side with another block.
Drag the handle to reorder blocks, or select several blocks at once to move or delete them together.
